Bpifrance’s French Tech Grant: Funding for LibScience.

As part of the Bourse French Tech Bpifrance program, LibScience has received a €77,000 Bourse French Tech Émergence grant from Bpifrance. LibScience is a French startup that develops digital tools for scientific publishing and research integrity.

This funding will enable LibScience to continue its research and development program. The program aims to strengthen and expand its technological infrastructure. It focuses on several key challenges in scientific publishing. These include scientific and editorial workflow management, traceability and valorization of research data, and the development of artificial intelligence-based tools for monitoring, analyzing, and leveraging scientific literature.

This work combines artificial intelligence, natural language processing, blockchain, and distributed storage. Together, these technologies aim to improve the reliability, traceability, and interoperability of scientific content and data.

In this context, LibScience is developing a SaaS solution for scientific, technical, and medical publishers that automates the verification of bibliographic references. Incorrect or incomplete references, citations of retracted papers, and fabricated sources are becoming increasingly important concerns in scientific publishing, particularly with the rise of generative AI tools.

Through the French Tech Émergence scheme, the Bourse French Tech Bpifrance will enable LibScience to strengthen its technical team. It will also accelerate the various R&D initiatives planned as part of this program.

“Research integrity cannot be reduced to a single tool or a single stage of the publishing process. Our goal is to gradually develop a range of technologies that make it easier to verify, trace, analyze, and enhance scientific information. RefCheck is currently a first concrete response to one of these challenges.”
